Before you go
Altitude
The 40K course reaches 4,389 m. Altitude sickness can start from about 2,450 m: if you are coming from the coast or from abroad, spend two or three nights in the highlands before you race.

The highlands have two rainy seasons, February to May and October to November, and October falls in one of them. Expect mud and wear shoes with good grip.
