Before you go

Altitude

The 70K Trail Del Volcán course in 2026 reaches 3,057 m. Altitude sickness can start from about 2,450 m: if you are coming from the coast or from abroad, spend two or three nights in the highlands before you race.

Altitude and acclimatization

Rain

The highlands have two rainy seasons, February to May and October to November, and April falls in one of them. Expect mud and wear shoes with good grip.
